Hi,

I have vball tryouts (for HS team) in 4 days and I have some questions.

1) I don't know the volleyball rotation, will the coach count this against me? I heard 6-2 is the most common rotation for HS and I have tried to learn it by reading about it on the internet. But it is just too confusing for me. Can anyone explain this to me in really simple terms or show me a video of it?

2) I don't have my overhand serve down 100%. I have been working on it every day and it has improved a little bit, but I still can't follow through. This will probably count against me, right? Can you give me some advice on this? I think the problem for me is I am hitting the ball with my palm, and not with my palms and fingers. Again.. if you can show me a good video this, I'd be grateful :)

3) Should I wear spandex to tryouts? Or bball shorts?

  1. 1. a 6-2 is a volleyball system where 2 positions set when they rotate to the back row and hit when they reach the front row.  So all 3 players in the front row hit.

Lets just say for ease of explanation that you will not make any substitutions.  There will be 2 girls that are setting.  They line up opposite each in the lineup so that when one goes back to serve she is now the setter the other moves up to the net and becomes a hitter.  The girl playing setter who is in the back row now sets in each of the rotations until she rotates back to the front row where she now becomes a hitter and the other girl playing setter opposite her moves to the back row and sets.  Just to add a little more to it most setters start in the front row position then switch to the right side after the serve remember to switch back to your correct starting position after the point is over.

    2. Keep your eye on the ball and reach high and contact high and out in front.
