  1. The cough could last up to a year. It depends on how long and how much you were smoking. Just to be sure you are healthy, it may be a good idea to visit your doctor and have a physical. Then you can relax about it. That post smoker's cough is totally normal

Congratulations on leading a healthier life!

  2. It may be not  due to taht.I am not smoking eventhough I have cough problem it may be seasonal effect

  3. not long, how long have you quit for?

you will prolly be sick for a month or maybe two, just for your immune system to pretty much reboot itself...

You still get cravings even after 2 months of not smoking, although you will be able to handle it better.

  4. you will stop when your lungs are "cleaned out"  u will bring stuff up soon

  5. could last couple months but its worth it now you are going to be ok sooner or later an di would have checkup few mos after it and have xrays taken now and then. be sure of yourself and think positive.

  6. It sounds a bit gross but a lot of what you are coughing up you will actually swallow again. The length of time you keep your cough will depend on a number of factors (how long you smoked, how much you smoked, your own body etc). If I remember correctly I kept my cough for about a month.

There are no real negative side effects to quitting, only positive ones. The longer you have stayed smoke free the easier the quitting process becomes. You have made the right choice, believe you can quit and you will.

  7. I assume it varies from person to person. You should start working to condition your lungs by doing things like swimming and running. The coughing will cease in time.

  8. well how long did you smoke for? 10 years? id say 10 years then bud..... just joking, im actually givig up at the moment to....... your doing well m8, keep at it!!!!

  9. About a week.  For the first week or so, your bronchial tubes are healing.  The cough will go away.  Then you will be able to breathe much better.

  10. Bro, you're doing the rigtht thing man, the coughing may not have anything to do with your quitting at all.

Dry coughs are sometimes due to fatique (too much exercise) or some irritation in your throat or just a virus.

Drink more water, sleep early and don't worry about it. You can also try some OTC cough drops or syrups, it will help smooth your throat. You should recover in a couple of days.

If the problem persists, just consult a doctor =)

When you quite smoking, your sense of smell gets better, you taste food better and you will defnitely be healthier!

Good Luck and I hope you quit for good!

  11. No, you don't tend to cough anything substantial up.  How long the coughing goes on will depend on how long you smoked.  Mine went away in a couple of weeks.  But that had been after smoking for a few years.
