  1. I'm betting your sensitive to the chlorine in the water.

Look into buying a shower filter.  It makes your skin softer (not dry), reduces the fading in color treated hair, and is just healthier, because you shouldn't be ingested chlorine (air or skin).

I have the RainShow'r shower filter, and I love it.  It's around $40.

My colleague bought one, and now her husband's dry back (eczema) is better.

If you don't want to buy a shower filter...then, get a natural lotion that is chemical free, and alcohol free (many lotions contain cetyl alcohol, but all alcohols are drying to skin).

    Hope this helps!

Oh, and take a cooler shower.  The shower should be warm, but not hot.  The hotter the shower is, the more of your body's natural oils gets washed away, causing your skin to become dry.

  2. The skin is covered with a protective layer of oil, produced by glands in the skin.  This prevents it from drying out.   When you bathe in hot water, use too harsh soaps, or bathe too frequently you may remove this protective layer of oil.

If you live in a dry climate this will be very noticable

    Don't use hot water

    Take shorter showers/baths

Use a mild soap (Dove or Ivory) and not any of the detergent based ones (like Zest or Irish Spring)

Blot your skin dry rather than rub it vigorously

Apply a moisturizing lotion while your skin is still damp.  You don't need to spend a lot of money.

  3. A cool shower.

  4. Replenish your body with a natural oil like sesame seed or vegetable oil. It doesn't take much. You can also spray yourself with diluted apple cider vinegar after you are done showering and let it air dry on you. Good luck.

  5. try E45 shower wash?

  6. Cetaphil is for sensative skin, you could use that to wash your skin with, it works VERY well, also you could use a good moisturizer AFTER you get out of the shower.
