  1. Just in from work after a hard day at the test tubes.  Boy, did I need a good laugh like this.

  2. Better get yer foil beanies out!!! Or aliens will be able to read your mind tonight.

BTW COSMO is a magazine and its only capable of blowing your mind, not your phone.

  3. Hello there,

Your one source to information on cosmic rays (not really rays :))

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_ray

    --------------------------------------...

    1. That should clearly explain that your friend has no understanding science.

    2. did not bother to check the reputability of the information contained in an email before spamming all his / her friends.

I am very glad you made an effort to understand the contents of the information rather than spamming all your friends.

working at a security company has taught me one thing - Spammers rely on people like your friend to do the job for them. They send out mails like this to friends and sooner or later the email bounce back to them from one of their friends... with all the email ids in the fwd  threads,  they can easily harvest a large number of email ids.

Once the ids are collected, the send out products to advertise like replica watches, performance drugs etc... to millions of people and even if 100 out of the million buys they're effort has paid off.

Please be wary of spam and educate your friends about it. this is the only way to stop spammers ....

  4. Nope.

But you can verify this by leaving your mobile on all day.  Check to see if it's still working tomorrow.  If it still works, then your friend's credibility is that much lower.  This is a great experiment.  Please report your results.

  5. Hello Anjan:

Your friend is sending you silly messages which you

should be able to filter by using some known information

and arrive at messages which are valuable and messages

    which are pure junk...

1.) Cosmic Rays are only emitted by space objects which are highly active with the radioactive forces of fusion, or left over  from previous fusion activities. Objects which emit Cosmic

Rays are Stars (the Sun is a star), Pulsars (certain collapsed older stars), and quite possibly Black Holes (a lot of theories exist about the exact composition of black holes, but not

much in the way of definite info can be found right now. The possibility that the center of a black hole is extremely radioactive is fairly good, I think).

Anyhow, it is the fusion process on the Sun, and on all stars

which emits the brilliant light energy we all see, and the infrared radiation which we all feel when exposed to sunlight. Sunburns are caused by the ultraviolet radiation from the Sun. Gamma Rays, and X Rays are also emitted by the sun

and are extremely harmful to living things in large doses. Our atmosphere protects us from those rays quite well under normal circumstances, and only a small percentage of them reach the surface of the Earth.

In any event, this Cosmic Radiation that your friend mentioned:

_ Does not come from PLANETS because they have

no atomic reactions going on within them (or they would

    be STARS.

_ Dissapates over distance using the Distance Squared

principle (just like light shining onto a section of paper).

The nearest star to Earth (other than the Sun) is several

LIGHT YEARS away from us (4.5 LY distance comes to mind) and others range from 15 to millions of LY away

from Earth. The Sun is only 93 Million Miles from Earth

and therefore is the most dangerous emitter of radiation

that we should be concerned about. Certain storms on

the Sun produce solar flares and plazma emissions which

truly do affect our communications patterns here on Earth

on occasions. However, none of those effects are related

to the planet Mars in any way. Mars does not give off any

radiation or dangerous rays, except for the basic reflection

of the light which came originally from the Sun. This reflected light is what we see when we look at Mars through a telescope. It is the same kind of thing that happens with

the Moon. The Moon has no light of its own. All of the illumination we see on the Moon is light energy emitted by the Sun and reflected back at us off of the Moon's surface. That is why the Moon's appearance changes through various phases as the Moon is exposed to more or less of the Sun's direct energy.

Nothing from Mars will ever affect your Cell Phone.

Have you paid your Cell Phone bill lately? Failure to do

so will probably cause it to stop working...bunches sooner

    than any MARTIAN COSMIC RAYS.

  6. No.

    This is WAY false.

COSMO (cosmic) rays do not come from planets.

Cosmic rays typically do not affect communications, (But solar wind, from the sun, can)

Why would NASA -- a United States agency -- tell the BBC -- from England --  but not teh Unites States news  agencies.

    You need some new friends . . . .

  7. no wonder the world is so paranoid, everyone believes everything they read on the internet, whether it makes sense or not.

  8. incidently even i had received a similar SMS about 2 days ago....i dint pay any heed to it and its needless to say my cell is perfectly fine till date  :-P

  9. Cosmic rays are created by the sun or other stars, not by planets (and that therefore includes Mars). Also, cosmic rays travel at a significant % of the speed of light, so advanced warning is a bit hard to establish (you detect it when it gets here, not before).

A bit of research would have saved you some time, and whould have shown how much your friends are putting you on the spot.

  10. No its just a hoax...

  11. i think ur friend or someone has played a small harmless prank.cosmic rays are never emitted from planets.they are basically emitted only by stars and occur in very less instance.besides our ozone nullies the cosmic rays to certain levels so ur mobile will be safe.
