i know that most people use mice which is what i was going to use but the person i got the ball from is giving me breeder hamsters and a first feed amount he has been giving her 5 every 2 to 3 weeks and she looks obese at the end of her tail it just cuts off should i feed her less like 2 or 3 or should i drop the hamsters all together and get mice.

Thank you for your time patience and replies

  1. Cut back on the feeding once every 5-7 days is good sounds like you could even go a bit longer for a bit till it slims down, as for hamsters or mice , try a mouse it will either take it or not,why was he feeding it breeder hamsters any way ? I feed my ball a hopper mouse every 5 days and he is 2 yr old.

    good luck

  2. hamsters are mostly fat and fur. They really don't supply any nutrition to the snake. Mice are also kinda fatty, but they are better then hamsters. I use all rats. You could do a rat pup or crawler instead of mice. Or a small rat.  At 2.5 years old, the snake should be big enough for a small rat once a week. But since it is obese right now, you could do every 10 days.

Also, make sure you have the heat at a good temp. If it is not warm enough, he won't be able to metabolize the fat and burn it.

    Hope that helps a bit.

  3. hamsters are more fattening for snakes!!!  i use mice.

i would use mice and feed a few every week or two.
