and would like to start another course in teaching assistant, I have never work in a school before and would like to volunteer so as to gain experience while doing the course. Do you think it is possible to do so, please advise.

Many programs take interns and volunteers throughout the year.  Contact the local public school's special education department to see if they accept volunteers.  Another option would be to contact a non-public or private program nearby.  Easter Seals might also take volunteers.  If someone says no, just call a different program.  I think gaining experience in a special education setting is a terrific idea and you should keep trying until you get the position you are looking for.

I think it would be a great idea ! Make sure it's what you really want to do. If you want to volunteer, just give a local school a call and it should not be a problem.
