credit report. I kept disputing until they were removed. Is this tactic unethical? Also I had medical bill go to collections, which im upset with because all they gave me was a ban-aid. I been trying hard to clean up my credit and I got it in the 600's. The new medical collection brought my score down 20pts is that typical? How much will this collection effect my overall credit future? Should I dispute it over and over?

  1. You can try disputing but I will tell you from experience that if the medical bills are unpaid they will be able to prove it and they will not be removed. The credit bureau does not care about you or your score so they certainly don't care what the medical treatment was for.

No this is not unethical to dispute your report that is what we should be doing to get things taken of and/or the correct status recorded. Yes it is common for a collections acct to cost you 20 pts. It is extremely easy to lose points and just as difficult to get them back. I have been haunted by a bad credit score for the past five years and have been working on cleaning it up but it is a very long process.

    Good luck to you!!

  2. You did great having these collections deleted.  Try doing the same with the medical bill.

  3. Don't be to elated just yet.  Many times these things are removed only to show up next time the creditor updates through the credit bureaus.  So it can crop right back up.

When trying to clean up your credit is is imperative to pay bills even those where you just got a bandaid.  20 is very typical.

Paying it will assure it looks better!
