I have recently moved house and am having problems signing into x-box live on my 360 elite?

we have 20mg broadband and when i test network connections they are all fine but when i try to sign in from my gamertag it does not sign onto xbox live......sometimes it is even signing the profile out all together.....i have been told i do not need to recall my gamertag as it is the same machine and harddrive i am using....any ideas
