I have given birth to my child and gave up smoking in 4 months. I was never svelte like but suddenly when I'm out and about, people talk like I'm deaf and blatently stare!! I honestly have never had this happen before....Is being obese so offensive that I deserve public judgement??

  1. I got picked on for 8 years because of my weight and one day I just thought 'stuff it' and joined this weight program called Weight Watchers. Now, everyone who bullied me in the past have started to call me nice things and treat me nicely cos I've lost a few pounds.

  2. Bingo! is an a*****e. Anyways those people need to get a life because they apparently have none to speak of.

  3. People are jerks. There's really nothing you can do about it. If you were thin, they would just find something else to insult you about. I think in a lot of cases people are just insecure and they feel that they need to take it out on other people to make themselves feel better. The only thing you can really do is just learn to ignore them and not let them get to you.

  4. No -- but remember that all those people who are judging you are about as bright and savvy as our adorable Bingo here .... all of them just as superficial and shallow.

Congratulations on the birth of your baby -- and for quitting smoking!

  5. Listen ChubbyChops, you have nothing to worry about. You know you are a porker and you know what you need to do about it. There is no use dodging the salad and cryng yourself to sleep whilst stuffing yourself with cake and chocolate. If it bothers you, get rid of the fat.

    Glad I could help.

    Cheers

  6. I've fought the weight for over 40 years, so I know how you feel. I have several friends that have weight problems as well and one thing I've noticed over the years is that the way a person dresses is more likely to cause the remarks and stares than the weight itself. There are plenty of styles today that would look great on a young woman with more than a little extra weight. You might want to go shopping and see if you can't find a couple of nice outfits that would make you look and feel better about yourself......and to heck with the people that are ill mannered enough to say something about your weight......rest assured, it will come back and bite them in the butt........

  7. NO, in America if you are 5 lbs over weight you are obese.  That is why we have a nation full of girls with eating disorders.  They all want to be wasting and ill looking like they have one foot in the grave.  Not every women is thin as a rail.  some of us have curves.  I'm on a diet myself but it's not because I'm trying to be thin, it's because I'm trying to get my triglycerides down.  I think a man likes a healthy looking women.  I think America has issues with the women body.  Women are having lipo, face lifts, body lifts, boob jobs all to make themselves desirable to men.  I just don't understand it.  Yes it is bad to be obese like wicked big it's not healthy and leads to health issues.  I think it's wrong to stare or make fun of anyone.  If you look at most of these women they have no butts, no hips and no b***s, and they don't look normal to me.  I guess because I was raised around women who had curves but they were not fat.  You will lose the weight and I think it's great you quit smoking.  People should understand a women gains weight when she is prego.

  8. there is a lot of stigmatism that being fat goes with being lazy and greedy and having a lack of self control. however, clearly this isn't the case for everyone and people should not be so ignorant to assume this of everyone and especially not make it so clear and make you feel so uncomfortable.

if you are happy with your weight that is what matters. forget what everyone else says, if you truly feel comfortable in yourself and how you look then you should have the confidence to block out the remarks of ignorant people, knowing you look and feel great. if you're not happy you can change with diet and exercise, making sure you do it healthily both for you and your baby because there is never any reason to jeopordise health to look good because it invariably catches up with you.

  9. people suck and don't care about anyone

    they are rude

  10. no you dont - dont worry about them - you be you.

  11. Don't take it personally.. some people will make remarks.. they are being rude.. if someone knew you before and see you now, sometimes they are bound to make comments that are just made out of ignorance.. which is the same as stupidity... I remember one day someone I had not met in 2 years, she and her partner came on a visit.. and before she even said ''Hi' to me.. she asked me''' Have you gained weight.. it was a matter of 10 lbs I had gained over 2 years but she noticed right away .. I was a bit put out as well but then again I know she was always vain about her body and said she would never have children as this would spoil her figure.. so you see what kind of people make this kind of remark... they are close minded people.. I would not stoop down to their level..  those who are your friends accept you as you are and with the others either use some humorous sarcasm.... or ignore them.. xx  You can always say to them.... ''Well I can lose the weight if i want to, but you will always be narrow minded and as vain as a peacock.''' It was great that you are such a responsible mum to have given up smoking that shows you care about your baby's health and anyone will gain some weight after a birth... you are a great example.... in a good way x*x
