I have recieved a letter from my former school teacher, we have been mailing each other for like 10yrs and this letter & a card that I have just recieved this June.In the card it had a Office Depot Gift Card .I dont know how I'm supposed to write a thankyou letter, also since I dont want to write anything that I would sound greedy.

So what would it be a way to write a thank you letter for the Office Depot Gift Card?

  1. It sounds perfectly fine to write a thank you.  Simply say thank you for the gift and that you appreciate their thoughtfulness.  When my grandmother sent me gifts for holidays and such, I used to always tell her what I bought, so she could feel like she helped pick it out.  In this case, however, I don't think that's necessary.  A simple thank you and such will be fine.

  2. Get a simple thank you card, and write. "thanks so much for the gift card! I bought xxxx with it and I love it"  then go on to talk about other things, and at the end "thanks again for the card, that was so thoughtful."

  3. Dear Teacher,

Thank you for your thoughtful gift card.  I enjoyed being in your class and learned so much from you.  Thank you for everything.

    Sincerely,

    xxxx

Short and sweet is fine just as long as you send a written note, and don't delay.  You must have been a special student to have a teacher send such a thoughtful gift.  Good job!
