My new furniture is red, not firetruck red, or burgandy, just red. I don't know what color to paint my walls, or what colors to use to decorate. I want something modern, I don't like crazy colors, just neat but nice, I like black and grays but I'm not sure what all things/colors would look good. Its my first apt. w/my boyfriend and I want things with a young but sophisticated look. Everything I have read says to use green, but I just can't do that it would remind me of Christmas and living at the North Pole. Any suggestions would help, I have one month!! Thanks:)

  1. a dark yellow goes nicely with red.  any shade of brown, black or gray.

  2. black or gray would look great..or u can use gold, yellow, brown, or beige

  3. Check out this ultra modern and elegant area rugs. You might get color ideas, or you might even want the area rug itself.

  4. In my room I have a redish futon and I painted the walls a neutral beige color and it looks great with the red. as for the rest of the furniture  I chose a dark brown wood and it looks awesome. I think grays will match well too.

  5. tan/beige,

im also redoing my bedroom and im using a red thats between bright red and burgandy. with tan/beige color. and i know itll look wonderfull

  6. We have red on our walls :) I know black would go good and if you are afraid of it's boldness, use it for accent pieces. I would try also using green to a minimum but it can look nice if it's tying into other thing. I would suggest considering an earthy orangeish yellow (golden hue...we did a gold with red shower curtains in our bathroom and it's AMAZING!) for the wall and if you are really brave, do white wainscotting on the bottom half and white crown moulding up top!
