  1. Others are experiencing the same problem, it is a problem with the update downloads and AVG need to fix it at the website. Your computer should generate an error report. If it doesn't then go to the contact us link on the web page and let them know of the problem.

  2. its dooms-day

  3. When a software does that, it usually means that there is something in the registry that is not being removed by the uninstall.  Unless you are familiar with editing the registry, you probably can not correct the problem.

However there is trick that may let you reinstall the software.  Usually a software will allow you to decide what directory you want to install it in (you may have to do a "custom" or "advanced" install to get that option). Trying installing AVG into a different directory then you used in the past. Normally that will make the program update all the registry entries with the new information, and often fixes software reinstall and missing file issues.

If that does not work, trying install a different version of AVG (such as a previous version) and then uninstalling it. That may clean the registry and allow a reinstall of the current version.

You can also try uninstalling AVG, and then running a registry cleaner (such as the excellent CCleaner from http://download.com ) and hope it cleans out any left over info from AVG. Then try a reinstall.

  4. There is a known issue with this and you'll have to wait until AVG repairs it.

  5. It's happening to mine right now.

  6. I came across the same problem but got it sorted.

    1 - Start up AVG,click Update Now.

2 - The list of updates is shown in Popup, click on the more information link.A list of updates will be shown.

3 - Click on and save all updates in a file except the last one - http://downloadfree.avg.com/update/u7iav... - because this is causing the problem.

4 - Cancel the update and instead click on Tools > Update from Directory and go to the file where you saved the updates.Install these and AVG should be working properly again.
