We're driving from new york to orlando, and are stopping in a few places along the way. We leave tonight. What I'm wondering is what is going on with the tropical storm/all the flooding.I called the resort and they said that there's no flooding as of now. It's just windy. By Saturday,is this thing expected to pass by?

  1. So far no flooding.  It's been rainy - but this is rainy season.  And the wind is stronger than usual.  But this shouldn't effect your vacation at all.  Your drive through the rain bands will probably be more of a problem then your stay in Orlando.  Bring rain gear (just in case you need it) but there is very little chance that Fay will be a problem for your trip.

Also:  in terms of your drive down - keep an eye out on the storm.  If the storm doesn't go west like predicted, it might be better for you to swing over to I75 at some point rather than taking I95 the whole way.

  2. It's supposed to be in the panhandle getting near Alabama by Saturday morning, by Saturday evening it is supposed to be near the Alabama/Mississippi border. Like Kristen said, be prepared with alternate routes, tropical systems can be unpredictable! Regardless, the outer rain bands may still be around, so be careful driving. I just drove from the cast parking lot to Ocoee (a town west of Orlando) and didn't have any flooding problems, but there is still a lot of rain coming down so that could change. Nevertheless, I doubt you will have problems (other than driving slow if the rain is still heavy) if you stick to the major roads. Can you update the question with which resort you are staying at? WDW is a big place and the resorts are all on different terrain. Maybe a Cast Member from your resort will read it and can tell you how susceptible it is to flooding.
