I have router question?

iam installing my router for the second time after it got messed up, so i get to the point where you have to make password then it checks the internet connection and it said can find internet please turn off/on the modem so i did and i kept doing that for an hour and half and it still cant get internet. i have tried 3 differnet ethernet cables and that didnt work and all the lights on the front panel light up and its worked before. what could be the probelm?

A router has 2 "sides"...

1) One side "faces" the ISP and must be connected to some sort of modem (DSL, Cable, etc.)... You need to get info from your ISP to connect to it properly, since some ISP's require a password .  The side that connects to your ISP's modem is usually labeled as "WAN" or "INTERNET" on the router...

2) The other side "faces" your PC's... Most will support 1-4 PC's as wired connections and many will also allow WiFi connection as well...

Make sure you follow the router instructions and can go thru its menus properly to configure according to your ISP's requirements... It sounds like you are not doing this!
