Question:

I have run into a snag putting a Fireworks "slideshow" into my Dreamweaver webpage?

I own Dreamweaver and am making my personal site, lilpinetree.com. The background used to be black.

I downloaded Fireworks for a 30-day trial period, to see if I like it before I buy.

First, I got my images in Fireworks and make a "slideshow" which is a photo album. I saved this to my desktop. It consisted of 5 items: an index.html, an xml, the slideshow player, a photos folder, and a scripts folder.

I opened the index.html in Wordpad, then copy and pasted that into Code View on my page in Dreamweaver. Then I moved the remaining 4 items into my "Files" in Dreamweaver, under a folder I call "Photo Albums". In Design View, I can see a grey box that is a Flash file (the slideshow). I saved and uploaded the site.

If you go to the site, you can see that the black background has replaced by white, and there is no Flash player.

What did I miss? Thank you so much for any help or ideas you have! Im a beginner but willing to learn, havent been able to find where I went wrong with this!

  1. What did you save the file as. If its flash its swf or flv files.

If it is a slideshow in fireworks you have to save it as a gif, jpgs don't do motion.

If you save the file as a gif and just click add image it will do the motion, don't do photo album.

Email me in my profile I will walk you through.

  2. A Possible Error could be that the code you pasted in your dreamweaver, that code must have imported the pictures with specific name (eg. My Album) and when you moved the pictures to your dreamweaver resources, you put it under a folder called Photo Albums so now the code is having problem finding your pictures and file in order to preview the slideshow.

    Hope this helps
