I have been looking for ages for this item and one has finally appeared on eBay but it has bids on.. Am I being rude typing in a last second MASSIVE bid, and having to pay what I have to pay. I normally type in bids through the auction. I have never "last second" bid before.

What is your opinion on this

Thank you for your answers.

  1. nope but be prepared to loose and cry in the corner.

  2. I do this.

Its just the way to play it.

You're not cheating or doing anything wrong, and you're never going to meet the people you outbid, so I wouldn't worry about it.

  3. Stealing a bid away from somebody at the last second is normal for Ebay.  Just know how much you want to spend because some of those bidders are friends jacking the price up to squeeze more money out of buyers who don't know better.

  4. It's common practice.

The majority of auctions on ebay have 1 or 2 bids until the last 5 minutes, when most of the serious bids are placed.

Bid your maximum amount as late as you can and then nobody has time to think about it and decide they would like to make a higher bid.

  5. Personally, I have never understood why people do this last second bid thing, it just seems to be being deliberately annoying. If I see something I want then I bid the absolute maximum I am prepared to pay there and then.

  6. Well, other bidders will be annoyed they didn't win, but that's what it's all about, so you're not being rude. Some people consider sniper tools very unfair. and I guess I would have to agree with them, but bidding manually last minute is fine in my books.

    Good luck.

  7. Of course this is fine. This is what auctions are all about. Try a sniping tool.

  8. Use a E-Bay bid snipping program, you put in how much you wanna pay and set the timer (like 6 seconds is standard). It automatically bids up to your maximum bid in those last six seconds. I use one all the time and it works great. I've gotten some really good deals, but you gotta remember alot people already use these type of programs so just be patient.Check out this site:

  9. That's the point of a bid and the fun of it I think.

  10. Bid away and do not let what others think bother you.

  11. Last minute entry of a massive bid is called "nuclear bidding", by the way.

I've seen some impressive results when 2 people are nuclear bidding, like $3000 for a tea-towel.

Last-second bidding ( called sniping) is common on ebay and accepted as normal behaviour).

Keep in mind that there's a time-lag and you have to outbid everyone else.  If someone else ha a nuclear bid, you won't catch up to their maximum in time.

  12. bid on it thats what it's there for.
