I have serious problems digesting fat. Is there anything I can take to help?

I have been steadily putting on weight for quite some time (partly due to struggles with binge eating disorder), and found myself observing that fatty foods (nut butters and fried foods in particular) made me feel heavy and bloated. I thought little about it, unaware that fat malabsorption in itself could be a possibility, until I went away for a two week holiday with my family. We went to Wyoming, where the standard fare was very high in cheese, dairy products, and, yes - fat. I keep to a strictly vegetarian diet, and ordinarily eat lots of fruit and vegetables. Over the course of the fortnight, I was no longer able to eat in this way, and gained eleven pounds. I have since been keeping a food diary, and found that, on the whole, fatty foods will cause me to bloat up (and, as yet, the bloating has not subsided). Is there anything I can take to help? Obviously it would seem that avoiding fatty foods is sensible, but what else?

Thanks

  1. AloeRide helps for easier digestion: http://tinyurl.com/getaloeride

  2. When you eat foods high in fat, drink a hot liquid, such as tea.  It helps to  keep the fats liquid and your body absorbs less of the fat.
