I have several VHS cassettes that I would like to have dubbed to Compact Disk. I'm not really inclined on the use of electronics so any insight into accomplishing this with less technical terms would be a major plus.

  1. First, its more likely you will move to a DVD than a CD for space reasons.  With that in mind...

Option 1 - Take it to a camera shop.  Most offer transfer services for a fee.

Option 2 - Do it yourself

There are several PC based devices that do this fairly well, if a bit slowly.

I use one called the Dazzle pro.  It gets hooked to your computer, the VCR gets connected to that, you run the included software, then basically push Play on the VCR.  This creates a movie that can be burned to a DVD.  This assumes your PC has the processing power to do it and a DVD burner.
