I have several hanging lantanas and treat them all the same. the leaves on one have fallen off. Why?

all the leaves have fallen off only one plant. the others are fine. also when do lantanas start dying?

  2. Sounds like you are watering too much.

    If they are in containers, you need to check the watering each day but it probably doesn't need water every day - much less 2 x a day. So, check the container first by poking your finger into the soil. If it is dry at the top 2" inches, then water thoroughly. If it is still damp or moist, hold off and check again the next day. It is ALWAYS better to water deeply and infrequently than watering a little each day (whether in the ground or in containers).

    If they are in the ground, you probably only need to water every 3-4 days or so. Lantanas can tolerate drought and when they are established in the ground, do not water every day. Allow for the soil to dry out before watering. When you do give it water, give a slow trickle allowing the soil to saturate and then give water when it's dry again.

    As for when they start dying, they are generally hardy to around the first frost. They are hardy to around USDA Z8-9 or so. So, it's too early in the season to be nipped by frost!
