I have sewing class and i have to buy some patterns ?

i have sewing class and i need to buy some patterns. does anybody know where i can buy them for super cheap i mean like 1 or 2 dollars

Like Joannes, Hancock Fabrics sometimes has them half price. But both McCalls and Simplicity has some that are usually around two dollar. You'll have to check the catalogs I then they are under sew ease or something similar.

Other than that you can always try garage sales or thrift stores.

SOmetimes Jo Ann's has a sale for $1.99 ,but you'll have to keep a watch for the sales ;)))

Watch sales at all the fabric stores.  Walmart also sells them below the regular price.

I'm looking at the Jo-ann's ad right now... Butterick Patterns are $1.99 on Sept. 18-20.

Wal-mart usually has some patterns for a decent price.

Remember, if you get the Jo-Ann's or Michaels ads they always have a coupon for 40% off that you can use.

What sort of patterns do you need?  There are also some pretty good ones (and some truly awful ones) available free on the net.

Some pretty good free clothing patterns at http://burdastyle.com  (Burda patterns are also generally worth paying full price for.)

Ask your teacher how to "proof" or "walk" a pattern... it's a good way to decide whether to even bother to sew up a pattern.  Not all patterns, even the ones you pay for, are correctly made.. .and sometimes there are inadvertent errors that just don't get caught (a cute new pattern that was in the last catalog that isn't in the current one has probably been discovered to be a Bad Pattern.)

Also, you might want to check patterns you're considering buying with the online pattern reviews at http://www.patternreview.com -- you'll need to register to view reviews more than 6 months old, but the basic membership is free, and there's no spam.  I've been a member since it started.  Good advice there.

Check your local thrift stores.  One by me sells patterns for 10 cents each.  Yard sales too.

I don't know if this will help you but some secondhand stores (Goodwill, Salvation Army, Thrift Stores) have patterns. Another source is yard sales. I see them all the time for fifty cents and completely unused. Another source is family and friends as almost anyone who sews has a few unused patterns. Hope this helps you out.
