I'm Turkish and I'm going to Amsterdam. I got the schengen visa and it's one enterance. Can I go to Paris by train for example and then comeback to Amsterdam to take my plane back to Turkey?

  1. Since there will be no border checks, you could. But officially, this is a multiple entry and will therefore be illegal. I wouldn't advice you to do it since you will be thrown out of the Schengen region if you get caught, and you will probably not be allowed to enter again.

Just enjoy your time in Amsterdam, visit some other places in the Netherlands and then return to Turkey. There's no sense in risking your entry to the Schengen area for the rest of your life because of a short trip to Paris.

Can't you get a multiple entry visa by the way? I added a link to some info about the Netherlands so that you can see what the country has to offer.

  2. Actually the above is not quite right

A single entry visa means that you can enter the Schengen zone at (e.g) Amsterdam and you are free to travel within the Schengen zone for up to 90 days, so travel to Paris and back is no problem.  If you however leave the Schengen zone e.g. cross over to the UK (where you would need an additional visa anyway) you are not entitled to return to Amsterdam.  So you must remain in the Schengen zone countries until you are ready to exit.

The only other restriction that you should take care with, is to check the first line on your visa.  Sometimes there are restrictions on which countries within the Schengen zone you can or cannot travel on. If it mentions here that you are only entitled to visit NL or not to France, then you will not be able to travel to Paris.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_ar...

It is really important that you understand the visa that has been issued to you.  If you are in any doubt, then contact the embassy which issued your visa to ensure you receive 100% accurate information

  3. of course you may. i am originally from outside of europe and got here before on a single-entry visa (schengen visa) and it enabled me to travel everywhere within the zone.

the single-entry just means that once you're outside of the schengen area, you will have to sign up for one again to get back in.
