Energy Saving Window Film

Don't let the hot sun eat up your cooling costs in the summer...and don't stand idly by as warm air literally goes out the window in the winter! The clear solution? Easy-to-apply, invisible Energy Saving Window Film that helps cut your energy bills all year 'round by keeping out up to 65% of solar heat in Summer, and keeping in 38% of escaping home heat in Winter.

Has anyone used this window film? Would I need to put it on every window to have it work? Is it hard to apply?

  1. Window film does help but I'm skeptic about the ads numbers. But there is more you can do. Get some painter's caulk and a caulk gun and caulk the window frame inside and out. If the windows open and close...don't caulk anywhere that would impede operation (window may be an escape for an emergency). You can also have another pane (Plexiglass) mounted to the existing window frame usually on the inside. Again...keep safety in mind. And last is insulating curtains. Hope this helps.

  2. Not really. A single pane is as old as the hills and, should be replaced.

I know it's not cheap but, if you own the home, it would be to your advantage. You would also save on heat and cooling in a long run.

  3. I use it every winter and it works great at keeping out drafts. I know that the rooms are warmer because of this. I can't say about summer because I take it off to open the windows, but it definitely would keep out warmer outside air. It's very easy to use. Just be sure to follow the directions and leave the double backed tape on the window frame for at least 15 minutes before you try to put the plastic on. I usually wait a half hour or so. Then stick the top on and carefully work down the sides trying to keep it straight because they don't give you any extra width. Then use a hair dryer to take out the wrinkles and you won't be able to tell it's there. I live in a suburb of Buffalo, NY and if it keeps out our winter wind it will work anywhere.

  4. Haven't used it but heat enters or escapes through termal transfer. I can't see a film helping much with that.

Would recommend double or triple pane windows for effective insulation.
