  1. Your probably going to have to create them yourself. Might even be cheaper. Check out a hardware/lumber store see if you can find some wooden dowels and have then cut to length. Perhaps split them up. Use two. Or metal rods and a hardware store. When looking don't necessarily look for curtain rods. Think outside the box.

  2. Well, I would go with verticals ... but it seems they may not be your most favorite ...  then your only other solution would be custom blinds from hunter blinds or better yet ... get a roller sun shade .. they do them very nice these days so that they are hid behind a valance ...  you can get manual chain or electric.

  3. Rosie, There are many inovative answers for your question.  Go to a thrift store or building renovation company and browse through all departments.  Your imagination can turn something in every dept. into the perfect curtain rod. Sometimes cities or counties will have online lists of building and surplus things they have from tearing down or redoing offices and other structures. The big buildings always have larger than store fixtures.  A bit of paint will turn it into the perfect color.  Another adventure is to look up someone that does metal fabrication, they can make exactly what you were thinking of and with your imagination that can be from wild to mild.  Good luck on your adventure and dont settle for less that you want or next spring you will be looking again.  Diane

  4. There is a company called Window Toppers.com.  Look on line, they have lots of options reasonable prices.  I find curtains, one way pull, for our sliding glass door and that's the only place I could find them.  Check them out, what do you have to lose.  Good luck.

  5. I don't know where you live but in UK you can get longer rods, if you are from US I am sure you can.  Perhaps you need to go into a large departmental store and ask in the curtain department.  They may be special order but I am sure you will be able to get them.

  6. If you use wooden rods or dowels, they could be screwed together end to end with double-ended screws(forget their real name) and as long as you have sufficient brackets it should be fine. I'd go to a drapery specialty store and see what they have, it might not need to cost a lot. I believe they make connectors for I-beam rods so you can run them together but I-beam is not decorative so most people want a valance with it.
