  1. It's good to question.

Believe in it or don't, it's all the same to me.  But let me ask you...have you had the EXPERIENCE of God?  The knowing?  Like you look around you and listen and God speaks directly to your heart?  If you've had the experience, what matters what happened 2000 years ago?  Listen to what God's saying NOW, and let the past live in the past.

And if you haven't had that sort of experience, why are you fooling yourself into thinking you know that God exists?

  2. That's ridiculous...you're going to not be a Christian and stop believing in Jesus because of a church...or actually because of a statement....the Bible, and everything else really, requires faith. Not everything can be explained or comprehended. No human can understand God...he is omnipresent and omniscient. And maybe what the pastor was trying to say is that life is not JUST about finding someone special, but about finding that someone and spending the rest of their lives growing in their relationship with the Lord.

  3. It seems that you are turned off by the particular spin on Christianity of that particular church and not Christianity since there are more forms of Christianity than one could even list.

  4. If you are a Christian, then you have chosen to accept the message Jesus as the truth...thus, there should be only two possible explanations for your problem with what you learned about that message at this church!  ...and "I don't think all of the bible is true" is NOT one of those options!

    The two explanations are:

    1. There is something wrong with the teachings of that church or pastor.

    2. There is something wrong with YOUR thinking!

The first is certainly possible...but the example you provided supports the second explanation.

The bible makes it quite clear that your life is NOT about finding someone to love and love you back!...and I agree 100% with that assessment!  You were NOT created by God for the love of one person...you were created to love HIM...and to show his love for the world to others!

His love isn't limited or somehow lacking...it is the ONLY thing you need to satisfy all your desires.  However, it sounds like you think you need a person to love you to be complete and that's the wrong perspective.

It is quite likely that God's plan for your life includes a husband...after all, he designed men and women in such a way that in a God-centered marriage, the two can become one that exceeds the potential of both of them individually!  However, if you set your sight on that goal, you'll have a hard time letting God lead you to the person he wants you to have.

Years of experience speaking here sweetie...I've found someone to love and love me back several times...and all of them distracted me from seeking God's will for my life...and none of them were capable of forming the kind of relationship God would want for someone he loved.

Heck, I'd have cried with joy if I was that pastor's wife as I've never been blessed to be in a relationship with a man that loves God more than he loves me and/or himself!  ...and I'll NEVER settle for less than that again!

  5. What your pastor meant by his statement life is for a purpose and that is to find Gods will upon your life. The second reason for this is because it talks in the bible and the bible states that once you become a disciple of Christ it says to go forth and preach the word of

God and make Disciples out of men. Do not give up your faith just because you do not understand it. God wishes us to marry and fall in Love. Your pastor can not put things in a simple way for youth to understand.

  6. --But you THINK you understand !!

  7. Hello,

Great question! First of all, I completely agree with you. Sometimes churches or so called "religious people" can actually do more harm than good!

I personally don't attend church, for some of the same reasons you mentioned. However, I do have a very deep belief in God, and I do put all of my faith in the Bible and study it often.

I would encourage to you keep an open mind in life, and if you are upset with your church, don't let that affect your belief.  I once heard a great quote, "If you ever find the perfect church, don't join it...you would ruin it."  I always thought that was funny but true. There is no perfect church.

You may want to change churches, or just study and worship God independently with your friends or family or something (or talk to people online).

Also, it is perfectly normal about having questions and frustrations. There are many tough questions about God, and the Bible also has some difficult passages in it. But there are lots of great websites onlinte that can help you understand things.

My experience has been that when I find something I don't understand in the Bible, I can almost always find a logical and reasonable explanation after a little research.

Great question, and have a great night.

  8. You should know all about that having faith thing and surely you know that the devil preys on christians who are weak in faith and steer them toward such places so he can win over another soul. I know there are things in the bible I don't understand and I just leave them be. all I know is that i'm not going to be standing here wondering where all the people went when god has come back to take his people just cause yet another church is being ran by motives not of god.

  9. Yeah this is what the church and the bible teaches, your love must be directed primarily towards god and humans come in second place. It tells you to be enemies to your family if they were against god. In heaven you wouldn't know any body of your family or the people you loved.

  10. Dont let one church & one pastor turn you away. Having a religious base in your life, one that you constantly examine & let grow, will make for a fuller & happier life.

    Find a new church,

  11. If you were a christian...you would know.....maybe you were just a churchgoer.

    I agree with your pastor

  12. If you don't wanna be a Christian now, it means you never were.  It doesn't sound like you ever had a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP with God, it doesn't sound like you ever came to a personal decision, it doesn't sound like you delight in what He's actually done for you.  That's what being Christian truly is, honey.  Sorry:(  Think it over?  xxxxx

P.S. It sounds like you go to a fundies church, hon, and those kind of judgmental churches will get you nowhere.  Find a different church.  Evangelical/reformed Baptist churches are good.  Go somewhere where the pastor loves you and people encourage you to allow God into your life:)  xxxxxxxx
