I don't like the tiny tiles so if I go small, I'll go with the 5" or whatever that size is even though I don't like them either.

  1. Well, there's small and then there's tiny. It's YOUR bathroom, so YOU are the one who has to be happy.

Go to a tile showroom and ask to see pictures of small bathrooms done both ways.

One thing you can consider, whether you use huge, large, medium, or small (small = 5" or 6"), is to have them laid on a diagonal, rather than parallel to the walls. And use a light grout (as close to the color of the tile as possible), but not white.

Renovating can be a worrisome hassle OR a fun experience (afterward. usually !!!). Just know what you want and then go for it !!! The dust and the anxiety will be gone in a few days. Smile !!!

  2. Im a contractor and I disagree with your handyman. i think larger tiles make a room look larger. I put 18" tiles in a small bathroom a few months ago and it made a huge difference! It looked 2x larger. Go with what you think, not him. Your the one that has to live w/ it.

  3. If you do a darker tile and make the walls lighter with a white ceiling it should counter act using big tiles

the plus to big tiles, also, is that there is less grout to clean

small tiles are really hard to clean.

    best of wishes

  4.    Use a tile that won't have too many cuts.A very large tile in a small room, you won't have too many full tiles. 8/27

  5. Mirrors make the rooms seem A Lot bigge.r
