I have some Old German Owl pigeons, how long must i home them?

I havea trion of old german owl pigeons that are this years, I want to keep them in a dovecote. How long must they be homed before I can let them free?.

Thanks in advance, any advice on these birds would be greatly apreciated.

  2. Owl German Owls are fairly steady birds. I'd suggest just letting them rear a round or two of youngster and then let them out.  They should be fine.  I'm assuming you got the birds as adults.  If you got them as youngsters, they should be fine now.  Just remember to allow them to see the outside, don't spook them, etc.  Also, I always like to give the birds a bath before I try to settle them. The wet feathers keep them down and they usually won't go up and fly high and get spooked before they know the local area landmarks.  BTW _ I think OGO's are great pigeons.

  3. We keep the birds up until they nest, then we turn them loose. We have fan tails and they stay at our store and fly all around but don't leave.
