I have some homemade rojo con pollo tamales given to me by a friend, thawed? Heating in conventional oven?

I do not have a microwave as my old one broke in a move. Need hints on how to heat and other fully-cooked foods up: temp and time. Or a site with good tips on heating anything in a conventional oven. They have been fridge thawing 2 days, so should be ready to heat up tonight. Help?!

well i think that this is tough to answer but here goes. ok microwave broken, u can heat in a conventional oven just watch it check every five ten mins. or take a pan (long handle) and heat it up over a fire! it's nice sitting out there... but thats all i can say or... go buy a new one

Are they still wrapped in the corn husks?

The way you should heat them up is to get a steamer basket, put it in with about a half inch of water in a big pot, cover and put it on high.

It will steam the tamale, which is the best way I've found.  And the great thing about that method is that you can even do it with frozen tamales...no need to thaw.  Just make sure they aren't sitting in the water - you want them to steam, not boil.

Stay away from the microwave.

This is how we heat up tamales... it's easy. Get out your aluminum foil and rip off as much as you need to be able to wrap the amount you're heating... you'll need 2, you wanna make sure it's wrapped well. Wet and ring out some paper towels, leave them moist but not dripping. You'll need a square baking dish or even a baking sheet will do... place one piece of the foil on the pan, lay the towels on the foil, place the tamales on the towels, stacking them two high in a row then wrap the foil around them... then use the other piece to rewrap ...this helps keep in the moisture. I'm jealous, I want some tamales!! lol

You can cook them on low in the oven for a few minutes, check them often to see if theyre done or not.

our family puts them in a fry pan or skillet with a little bit of water until they are heated up again.

sprinkle them w/ a few drops of water, wrap tightly in foil, and heat in a 300ºF oven for about 20 min.

Steaming on the stove top works nicely, too, if you have a steamer pan w/ lid.
