  1. If you're having metal stools, you should see a doctor right away!

  2. Rustoleum is a good outdoor paint that seals metal to be used outdoors. I would still bring them inside in the winter though if you get a lot of snow.

  3. Sanding the rust off...then priming with a good primer....and then paint with a good paint made specifically for metal (Like Rustoleum)...Is first...

After paint has dried (and "cured" for a couple of days) use a car polish like Turtle Wax and wax the metal...it will help keep the rust down and help protect it when outdoors in bad weather or hot sun. Keeping it waxed with the car wax, will also extend the life of your paint job, so that you won't have to paint it every year...

  4. I have quite a collection of metal, from furniture, to fountains, to art in cast and wrought iron, steel, to aluminum.  Check to see how the pieces are held together, if they are welded, use a rust encapsulating primer at the joints for extra protection.  What is so great about the primer, is that you don't have to spend hours sanding away rust, simply wire brush it off, the primer chemically bonds to what is left to stop it.  Then, I use Rustoleum rust encapsulating and inhibiting paint for most of my garden metal because of all of the brands I've used, it does the best at stopping and inhibiting rust on furniture exposed to the elements.  The new Rustoleum Universal is the top of the line mainly because the new spraying mechanism enables you to spray from all angles without runs or drips.  It also comes in a great new variety of colors, too.
