I have some money to invest - how do ETF's sound?

I have around $500-$1000 to invest and I was recently looking into Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). Does anyone have an good ones to look into or recommendations on what else I should do with the amount of money I am willing to invest?

ETFs are great ways to invest in such markets as the ETFs are solely based on some underlying commodities.  Now with the huge rise in the commodities, ETFs are really good to be invested in.
