I have some .mp4 format video of my home function. Is it possible to play these file on simple VCD or DVD?

If not possible to play these formats, what should I do to play these .mp4 files on simple VCD or DVD player.

  1. hm i don't think so. you would still need to encode it before burning it onto a dvd and playing it on a dvd player. dvd flick is a program that does this.


  2. Most DVD players can't handle MPEG-4, though they're becoming more common and quite cheap.  If quality's a top priority I'd get a new DVD player.

    If you want to produce a DVDs that will play without menus you could try DVD Flick or the free version of Video DVD Maker.  Both are very simple and free.  

    If you want a DVD with menus life might get complicated! There are lots of converters costing $25 and  upwards, but they only allow you to set chapter points at fixed intervals.  Arbitrary chapter points are more difficult - you'll need to convert the mpeg-4 to mpeg-2 and then use an authoring app to create the DVD.
