ok. first question

how do you find the axis of symmetry for a parabola in standard form? and is there a way to find it without graphing?

how do you find the amount of x-intercepts (real roots) for a parabola in standard form without graphing it?

and then when you graph the parabola, i don't understand vertical compression and vertical stretch. i can get the first 2 points, but after that it gets a little complicated.

  1. I have attaches a source for your reference.

There are two kinds of parabolas., one with y and x^2 term, and the other with x and y^2 term. You should first determine which one to use.
