I have some pictures e-mailed to me but theyre tiny. how do i enlarge??

i got these pics e-mailed from a friend and theyre about 1"X1". when i try to enlarge them they get blury and all box-ey when the pixels become out of focus. how can i blow them up and keep them clear?? help please, im desperate!!

Most photo editors will be able to zoom+ and save but the result may be disappointing.

When a photo is reduced in size the pixel count is reduced, and the pixels that have been deleted cannot be restored and any enlargements of the photo would be of lower quality.
