I have some qestions about the pick up ability in pokemon diamond.please answer?

i have meowth with the pick up ability.if i evolve it will i have more chances for getting items or getting rarer ones?

any tricks to get rare items and more often with the pick up ability?

ive heard lots of rumors that u nead to win the batle with example meoth to get an item?maybe d u get more often an item by doing this?but if tell me that only if u batle and win with meoth(exmple again)it is wrong becouse ive got items without wining the batle with meowth(example AGAIN)

please DONT tell me sites or there is no hope u will get 10 points from me.

(by the way what does EV mean?)

The higher the level is on your pokemon the rarer the item is. You don't need to win a battle with a pokemon to get the item just walk around for a little while and your pokemon will eventually find something.

meawth gets to pick up rare items when it is at a high level  and the ev means effort points i heard of it but idont know what its used for
