Question:

I have some questions about buying tickets online?

First, how do different websites sell tickets to the same event? What if they both sell the same ticket at the same time? How does that work?

Second, is the only way to find the best tickets to jump around to all the websites that're selling them, and see what tickets are available? Is there an easier way?

Third, is all I need to do is buy the ticket, then show up to the event? Are there any other requirements to getting in?

  1. The website that sell seats have there specific seat no 2 sites will sell the same seat ever. Some times the best way is to jump around depending on what the event is, and if they're sold out then id say try and find them on free classified ads places like http://www.stumblehere.com I've found a lot of different tickets on those sites. And lastly yea just make sure you have some for of identification when you arrive and your good to go.

  2. Promoters of the event will give different ticket allocations to various ticket sellers. Some of these are pre-sold, some not. This helps the promoter reduce their risks. The allocations are for different tickets, the same ticket is only sold once.

Except on the after market - where people can list their tickets on more than one broker network. For example tickets can be listed on craigslist, ebay, stubhub, razorgator, ticket network, etc.. Usually there is a confirmation step involved from the seller, so this stops double selling.

Your best bet is to check ticketmaster, then if you can't find the tickets you want there, have a look at tickex.com who will show you most of the  all the after market ticket sellers, their seating & prices. You can compare them all there, them purchase the tickets you want from the seller that has those tickets.

Once you've bought the ticket, you may be able to pick it up at the event, or else wait until its delivered to you. This can be a bit of a nervous process if you've just spent a couple of thousand dollars on tickets; but it works out 99% of the time.
