Question:

I have some questions about the AF loadmaster career.?

I got an 88 on the asvab, and I am going to be a senior in high school in two days. I am thinking about signing up for the delayed entry program. Right now I am thinking about being a loadmaster.

Just a few questions,

1) Are you always with the aircraft or do you stay at the base and just get involved with the aircraft when it is on your base?

2) Do you have enough time to study for college courses?

3) How long are you away from home? (on average)

4) Is this a high stress job, or more laid back?

5) How often do you have computer/internet access?

Thank you in advance.

  1. Here's a link to the job description. Sorry I can't answer your questions.

Except I'm pretty sure you're always with your aircraft

  2. 1- You are assigned to an airlift sqdn, or possibly a Special Ops Sqdn.  That sqdn has aircraft assigned to it. (This is not ENTIRELY accurate, but it's close enough for your question.)

2- Initially probably not.  However, once you have some experience, and move into Standardization/Evaluation or Plans, yes you'll have time.

    3- 120 - 220 days/yr

4- Define "High Stress".  As you are a teenager, I'm sure your version of high-stress and mine are different.  However all military flying is mentally and physically demanding.  All part of the challenge.

5- Daily when you're in the sqdn, or at a deployed location.
