I have some questions about the U.S. virgin islands?

1. what do i need to plan the trip?

2.is there a specific time of year i should or shouldnt go?

3.what kinds of things will i be able to do? how much will it cost?

4. do i need to rent a car to go see things or is there other transportation?

5. will i need a passport

6. any good hotels? what do they have at the hotels?

i need to know soon.

  1. There a couple of websites that could be very helpful:

    TripAdvisor.com has destination guides and comments on hotels and resorts by past guests.

    vinow.com is a comprehensive site about the Virgin Islands.

    CaribbeanOnLine.com also has lots of info about islands in the Caribbean.

    1.  Get a Frommer's or Fodor's guidebook [or use their online sites].  Try your library for the books.

    2.  The guides/websites will tell when the rainy season is.  June through early November is hurricane season, but also has lower rates.

    3.  Watersports would be the big activity.  

    4.  Depends on the island and your comfort with driving twisty, steep roads on the "wrong" side of the road.

    5.  Passport rules are in flux.  At some point the law will require passports to return to the US by air.  Check the State Department website or your travel agent.

    6.  See TripAdvisor.
