I have a kit and some pictures (mostly digital) and stuff that I have bought over the last year or two. What do I need to get started? How much setup time does it take to get going? How much space do I need? What are god start and stopping points? What is the first few things I should do?

  1. A friend of mine who is into scrapbooking recommended the following links. I hope it's of help to you  http://www.everything-about-scrapbooking...

  2. There is no best answer for this!  Where to start is totally up to you. If it were me, I would find the picture that I like the most and a couple of ones to go with it. Then kind of decide on a color or theme.  With the setup time, every one is different. If you like to organize your things before hand, its going to take some time. Most people that I know just put it in a box and go for it. We have a table that we clean off before three of us use it.

common stuff to get before you start

    -stickers

    -colored paper

    -glue

    -pictures

    -ruler

    -cutters

    Try this:

    1. pick out two-three pictures that kind of go together in a theme. Like eating, dressing up, nature.

    2. Then pick the background. you also need to think about what size you need.

    3. place the pictures on the paper in different positions. What way do you like them? Can you make some smaller? Can you fancy cut some? (they have all different kinds of cutters for this)

    4. find scrapes of paper that you can place around the picture to accent it more.  Cut them into different shapes if you would like

    5. After you have found what you would like, Glue everything!!!! Stick glue is better for this project.

    Hope this helped!!!!

  3. Unless you have hours on end to do this, don't even start.  Unless you're a decisive person and things don't have to be as perfect as possible, don't even go there.  There are just gazillions of options and possibilities and it drives me nuts!  First, the Creative Memories lady says to bring 6+ photos to do a page.  Then she says pick only 1 or 2.  Scrap the rest.  Borders.  Shapes.  Frames.  Color.  Stickers?  Them?  Placement?  Words?  She whipped out a page in 10 minutes.... took me 2 hours to do 1 page.  Not including 45 minutes of thinking of what to do.  I don't have time for this.  Life is passing by, grass is growing, stuff need to get done.

Supplies: scissors, those dot glue things, stickers, basic supplies, and pictures.  Most importantly, TIME.  And lots of it.

Space: enough to spread your stuff out to look at the possibilities.

Start and stop points: Start when the desire hits, end when you get tired of it or your patience runs out.

  4. You can always check and see if your local craft store has classes or just go talk to people in the scrapbooking section of the store.

If you have neither of those options than you can get a magazine with sample layouts in it and pull ideas that you like and use them to create your own layout.

Also many local areas host cropping sessions where you can get a lot of help. IF you have a Jo-anns craft store near you they offer classes and cropping sessions.

You don't need much to get started. Paper is the base of scrapbooking. Find cute colors and patterns that suit what you are going to work on. and than you can get some stickers or other small embelishments that you like. Set-up does not take long (although I have a scrapbooking room in my house so it is always there and ready when I want). I use a large draftinf table to do all my work but a small kitchen table or card table would suffice. I always stop at the end of a page. Never leave a page half done because it never comes together right for me than.

Just remember start simple and get tons of ideas from magazines, websites, and of course other scrapers.

  5. Here is a search you can look through and see what you like from it.
