The rest of my family is having salmon tonight, but I'm not a fish person, so on a whim, I got some steaks for myself and my boyfriend. Thing is, I'm not too good with faking recipes.

I'm set with some rosemary potatoes and string beans, but I don't know what to do with this steak. I'm fond of a slab of medium-rare beef, and don't want to be stuck with something too boring. I ended up getting it from Wal-Mart, so I don't need to put any extra salt in.

What are some simple steak recipes? I'd rather not have to deal with broiling and cleaning the broiler pan later, but it's not impossible.

  1. pb&j instead

  2. Do you have a grill?  Guys all love grilled steak.  I usually marinate it with red wine & A1 New York marinade.  Grill about 10 - 15 min. per side depending on how thick the cut.

My kids and husband love it!!!

    Never boring.

    Have fun.

  3. slice it up and flash fry it with some green beans  serve with  your potatoes.

  4. Grill it! There's nothing like a good steak in summer!! And everyone likes steak. (well, almost everyone)

  5. yah agreed go grill it, or slice up the onions add it to the pan you are cooking the steak in. Then toward the end add baslamic vingar and olive oil

  6. rub some oil, thyme, and black pepper into the steak. season the top, sides and fat lines with *steak magic (from most grocery stores in the spice isle)... and boom... put that joint in the broiler til its medium rare..

restaurants use that steak magic spice and its bomb you should try it...

  7. strip steak yum. my fave cut of beef. all you need is salt and pepper, it has so much flavor on its own you do not need a whole lot more. enjoy

  8. grill the steak, and fry the onions, then put the seasoning on the steak :)

    hope i helped??

thats probally what i would do anyway

  9. Try lining the bottom of the broiler pan with a layer or two of aluminum foil.  It won't affect the cooking, but makes clean-up way easier!

As for a steak recipe, I usually just season the steak with salt, pepper, garlic power, and a little red pepper then throw them on the grill/broiler (you could skip the salt).  You can also pan fry them in a little olive oil over medium heat.  If you want something different, try this teriyaki recipe:

    Combine and mix well:

    ½ c vegetable oil

    1 c soy sauce

    3 T brown sugar

    3 mashed garlic cloves

1 T grated fresh gingerroot (or about 1/4t ground ginger)

    2 T sherry ( I use vinegar)

Marinate the meat 4-12 hours, refrigerated. Baste with marinade during cooking.  Half a recipe should be plenty for only 2 steaks.
