  1. You can get a job, try a government job.  I have seen alot of people with special needs at the Court house were I go to do work.  They are cashiers, data entry or clerks.  They are an equal oportunity employer.  I really recomend you there.

  2. what needs

  3. Well all jobs are supposed to be equal opportunity employers, it would be easier to know what you special need was.  Have you tried department stores or discount stores like Wal-mart, target, that kind of thing.  You can also go to your state resources people and apply for disability if your special need is preventing you from getting a job.

  4. s***w work. If you have enough money from benefits then just live your life and stop worrying that you can't waste it on some crappy job like the rest of us. You are aware that almost everyone hates their job right?

    Learn to paint

    Play an instrument

    Read books

    WRITE a book!

    Take walks

    Meet people

    LIVE... now go!

  5. Try running for office.

  6. Don't listen too much to that Mcdonalds Sh***..  IF,,you ARE indeed "Disabled" then you will Qualifiy for State dept. of Rehabilitation beneifits, that COULD send you to school..or find you a decent job...NOT At Mcdonalds...as they don't pay enough money to sustain someone with special needs... Here's the deal!!  What's YOUR "Special Need???".  that's the next real question...

Obviously you can use the internet..SO???? What's up????

I KNOW what to do... but can't help if you don't tell more... OK.. the 411 pours in...

IF<,your on SSI..or SSDI..or a combo of both..then your lookin' good...at least if your in CA....  Check out the DOR in YOUR STATE..and they'll help you "Big Time!".

Shame on whoever said that Mcdonalds answer by the way....  Sometimes I actually forget that you clowns are still out there laughing at the world when the real joke's on you..  Youth and a "Passes  by an adult that knows your going to pay dearly for your youngster stuff... IF you end up in the wrong >>Cell for instance...will only take you so far.. Then YOU can show us all how it's done at Mcdonalds or Wal-Mart...  Only, for now, you don't have to come up with thousands of bucks for meds,,or health care..  ...  Sorry,,,,other answer people.. that made me react; and I've contributed my bit.. that's all from me..

    thank you all!...Not you "LOP!"........

  7. that is very unfair of them! you'll find one eventually..

  8. Depending on the severity of your disability, there are many vacancies that you could fill. First, define your 'special needs', then go and visit an Employment Centre and ask if there are local vacancies that would suit. I think you would find that there are several firms and businesses that would be prepared to employ you. Some will have a policy of employing a certain number of folk with 'special needs'. Best of luck. I know several lads who are now holdiing down good jobs and they have quire severe disabilities.

  9. All the big chain stores allow people with needs to work.Good Luck.

  10. Try McDonalds - they employ lots of people with special needs

  11. first of all it is against the law for any employer to discriminate against you for special needs. if you feel thats the case then you should obtain a lawyer or contact the board of labor. you can even tell your employer's that you feel that you cant get a decent job because of your special needs but you are very capable of getting the job done.

  12. check your local newspaper!!!

  13. Walmart and some local grocery stores also hire special needs. No one should make you feel discriminated,

  14. Yeah we really need a bit more detail to be able to help you with this one

  15. Do you live in Michigan?  I do.  I don't have special needs, other than I'm 45 years old and being consistently passed up for 21-year-old recent college grads.  They're willing to do office work because that's all they can find here.  Wherever you are, and whatever your needs, I promise you, you are not alone in your frustration.

  16. Hi Clare, From reading your other question I understand that you have Downs Syndrome. I really admire you for wanting a job. Do do have a support worker that you can speak to? May be he/she can help you with your search. Some stores do have a policy of employing people with special needs. I wish you luck in finding a job.

  17. Depends what jobs you have been going for. If the job is out of your ability and employer will not give it to you or a person without special needs they will give the job to the candidate that fits. All employers have to comply with the disability act like the equal oppertunitys act. (which you can Google) Asda, Tesco, Mc Donalds all take people on who are less able than others.

  18. Employers are not suppose to not hire someone  just because of disabililities no matter what the disabilities are.

Although, employers do have to get a job done and can't keep a person working if they are slow, can't do job, etc.

SO, think of jobs that you really think you can do, things you would like, etc  and go for them.

My 18 yr old daughter has certain type of learning disabilities, she is slow, etc.

I have always been so scared for her life, I didn't even know if she would ever be able to do a job.

But guess what? She applied at a grocery store and they hired her immediately!  I don't think they KNEW of her problems, though.

She works in the bakery thank goodness. I KNOW she could not be a cashier, you have to be really fast and know how to do the register.

Anyway, she says she is slow, but she's normally slow anyway.  She says she just wants to do the job right.

AND, her boss understands her and says she has patience with her.

That is a big plus. It helps for your boss to understand you and give you a chance.

So keep these things in mind.

Just remember they are not suppose to NOT hire you just because you have a disability. THis is discrimination and it's against the law.

Please find the agency in your area that helps people with disabilties get a job. I think it' called  job rehabilitation or something like that.

Call your local department of labor and tell them you need the agency that helps people with disabilities get a job.

Good luck!  Oh yea, and please pray about it!!

  19. because employers don't want to pay your health insurance. I have a pre existing condition and face the same situation. how much does it suck??

  20. Check around

  21. Try Asda.  If it is going to cost money for your special needs, companies will not fork out for it.  Even though, they like to look good, by employing these people.

    Good luck BTW.

  22. You didn't elaborate on your special needs.  That might help get your question answered.

  23. First of all what kind of job are you looking for? What are your qualifications? Where have you applied? The US and Canada have social agencies that help differently abled persons find employment have you tried looking into them?

    Good luck in your quest.

  24. Offer to do some unpaid work experience and see how you get on.

  26. Contact your state's Department of Rehabilitative Services or Department of Rehabilitation.  Through their employment services, they will help you find a job that best suits your abilities.  If you have no work skills, they can provide job training.

  27. what makes you special?  blind,my daughter taught sightless people at the collage here, she was born sightless from birth  Don't take this personal, but self pity  won't get you a job.
