I have suggested this before?

But it didn't get much interest

Level one - can answer questions posed by other level ones and one answer each day from any level two.

Level two - can answer questions posed by level 1 and level 2 and 2 answers each day from any level 3

Level 3- can answers questions posed by level 1, level 2 and level 3 and 5 answers from any level

Level 4- can answer questions posed by level 1, level 2, level 3, level 4 and 20 answers from any level

and so on and so on.

Sounds harsh, but it would have 2 great advantages.

It would take a lot longer to build up points and so lead to members valuing their position more than they do at present.

It would stop trolls setting up accounts daily in order to chop those with high points down.

Would it work?

  1. I would agree to this on one condition. When people make such suggestions I notice that they are made by people who are on Level 4 or above so I think it would only be fair if the board was wiped clean and everyone started from scratch with 0 point.

  2. No, the whole point of answers is that you get the benefit of people's knowledge. Some new users may have expertise just as much as a higher level user, but not have had time to show it.

  3. It takes a long time for members to build up points as it stands.

Those with potential to be serious contributors one day would be frustrated at only being able to answer Level One questions.

The policing of Trolls can be countered by Yahoo staff.

P.S. GETA LIFE! shuts down debate, denies people a voice and is a worthless comment because...... it can be used against any question.

  4. Get rid of the points system  and the stupid orange badges altogether. That would sort out the jealous haters

  5. Qwerty is absolutely correct. Yahoo Answers should be a font for passing on knowledge, not just trying to gain points.

  6. I'd vote for that, sure

  7. No.

    Shullup.

  8. I think they should get rid of the points and levels altogether. that way there would be no reason to target a user on a high level. keep the TC's though as they give an indication a user knows a bit about what they are talking about.

  9. no way..its ok now..this will defeat the object.mary.c.

  10. I'd just prefer to see more categories so that there can be fun questions and "serious" questions. Sometimes it's great to answer daft questions with silly answers but other times I feel like really getting my head round an interesting question, and I can't find one. Maybe they should do something like Google did and have a scholar section. Or would it be abused by fools?
