I have taken my sky box abroad and swapped my card with a friends box. Now we have both lost all channels?

We have both lost our channels and cannot call sky as the number doesnt work from abroad! Has anyone else had this problem. I know sky doesnt like you taking your box abroad, so only good advice please!!!!!!

both of you need to post each others card back so you both have the correct card...simple....

You will need to swap the cards back, however you will also need to then wait up to 3 days for the cards to reactivate themselves as the update codes for each card are transmitted in a rolling sequence.

The normal answer would be to do that and call sky, but as you say, the number dosn't work from abroad and even if it did, when they see your callerID they'd cut off your servce as they don't like people exporting equipment.

The card is locked to your box by Sky, so you need to swap the cards back over. If you use someone else's card, you'll get a message saying "Incorrect viewing card". You should have kept your original card in your box in the first place anyway, as you'll still get all your channels wherever you are. As far as the box is concerned, if you've still got your original card it doesn't detect that it's been moved outside the UK and still works as normal. So you need to get your original card back and send your friend's card back so they can get their channels as well.
