My eyesight is terrible, I have to wear my glasses, but I hate them, I look better without them. Is there any way to get my eyesight better? The only problem is that im on the computer a lot working art and stuff.

I heard about laser eye surgery or something, is it effective? Is it costly? Does it always work? Just give me all the info about it that you got please, I would love to not have to wear my glasses.

Oh also, I can't wear contacts, im afraid to touch my own eye (or anyone else's), so that's a for sure no.

  1. no it does not!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I strongly advise against lasik. For some people, it can lead to lasik-induced chronic dry eye- which is a hellish, painful, and expensive condition- you'll be spending two, three hundred dollars a month trying to manage your condition with plugs, drops, ointments, oils, masks, tape, goggles, moisture chamber glasses, maybe scleral lenses... and it's never really enough, because you'll still experience burning, stinging, feeling like there's sand in your eyes CONSTANTLY no matter what you do- and it's for the rest of your life, the light sensitivity and the difficulty reading and the G-d forsaken pain.

Why risk that horrible future for the sake of not wearing glasses?

  3. both my parents had laser eye surgery and their eyes are so much better. it is costly. i live in the UK so theirs probably cost more than in the US but not sure - think it was in the region of £500 ($1000) and not sure whether that was for both or per eye.

you will have to see a laser eye specialist who will examine you and let you know if you are a suitable candidate to have the laser surgery.

  4. Hi, i took up laser eye surgery in Jan...Laser surgery is expensive...but it is sure worth it! so if u can afford it, i'd say go for it...

i was wearing glasses, contacts and now done my lasik...

u'd have to go for an eye exam b4 surgery..the docs measure ur eye stats to determine whether its possible to correct it fully and whether ur eyes are healthy enough to make thru the surgery ...

the surgery itself takes only 10-15 mins and is painless...you'd have some irritation for a couple of days and aftr tht u'd be perfectly fine!!

i'd say go for it...u wont regret it!! :-)

  5. Laser eye surgery can bring your eye sight back to 20/20 or better.

  6. Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and Lasik surgery in India by a company called Indian Health Guru Consultants. The Price for dental and Lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Indian Health Guru Consultants is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, Lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.

They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Yes, there is laser eye correction out there, and it works on ppl who are candidates for it - not everybody! The best way to tell is to go in for an exam to find out (Not from an Optometrist, but an actual lasik place - some even do free appoitments, like LasikPlus.)

Many ppl who work on computers have lasik.  It works great for them.  I've worked in surgery for a few years and have seen a lot of really great successes.

Cost depends on where you go- you can get cheap lasik in canada for 300 bucks an eye or do a high end one for about 2500/eye.  Go where you feel comfortable and you know the doctor is good.  Ask them their rate of 20/20, and how many patients they've done.

That's ok if you can't touch your eye - you can practice doing this daily b/c you'll need to put drops in every day for a week or so after surgery - get used to that!
