I have the #2 overall selection. Who should I select?

In a fantasy football draft tommorow, I have the #2 overall selection. LT should be gone, so I think I should choose Adrian Peterson. The 2 others I am considering are Westbrook and Tom Brady. I think AP will have more space to run because the Vikings finally have recievers, which will lead to less injuries for him.

  1. All three you suggest are good options.  I would also put Joseph Addai in that group.

AP is the way to go.  Westbrook had a great year last year and everyone forgot that he is an injury risk.  AP is an injury risk also, but less so.  And age is such a huge factor for RBs; Westbrook is past his prime age and AP is just approaching it.

Brady would also be a good pick - chances are he will outscore all RBs.  But there will be plenty of other good QBs.  You can get an elite QB like Drew Brees in the fourth round - and no way can you get an elite RB in the fourth.  That's why you take AP in the first.

  2. adrian peterson

  3. I'd take Adrian Peterson.  In my eyes LT is #1 and AP is #2 and there is a gap between #2 and #3.

  4. Probably AP or Westbrook. I think Westbrook is the more logical choice because he put up stats on a team who is going to bounce back this year, but I'd flip a coin

  5. Well... it's between Steven Jackson, AP, and Westbrook... all of whom are injury prone. You could take any of these three, but you'd be taking risks by doing so. I'd go with Westbrook or Jackson.

  6. I would go with AP. There are still more good QB's later on in the draft like Romo, P.Manning. Minnesota's QB needs to step it up if the Vikings will do good this year.

  7. AP is the obvious choice but there are injury concerns. But if you think about this, there are also injury concerns in Steven Jackson, Frank Gore and even LT.

If you want a safer pick anyway, go for Westbrook. (EDIT: However, Westbrook has never played 16 games in a season).

Don't take Brady. There is something called career year (see Marino in '84 and Manning in '04) and Brady will be back to 30 TD and 4000 yds, which you can get in the 3rd or 4th round with Romo, Brees or Palmer.

  8. Westbrook

    AP is injury prone

  9. I would take Westbrook. He can do everything. I'm always cautious of taking a young player really high because you never know if they will have back-to-back good seasons.

  10. Why is no one putting Jackson's name out there? I think Jackson is #2 ahead of AP. I even have AP at #6. Jackson should be your #2 pick (so long as LT goes #1 of course) because St. Louis's line when healthy is better than Philly's line when healthy. Marc Bulger overall has better recievers than McNabb and again with the line in St. Louis healthy he is a top 5 QB gaurunteed! More weapons in St. Louis means more running room for Jackson. And he is the exact same type of player as Westbrook but BETTER.

My top 5 are as shown

    #1 - LT

    #2 - Steven Jackson

    #3 - Brian Westbrook

    #4 - Joseph Addai

    #5 - Marion Barber

    (#6) - AP (I personally don't trust sophmores.

  11. AP seems to be the popular #2 pick. His stats certainly back it up. I would choose him for sure. Who knows, maybe the #1 pick will be AP and then you get LT. Good luck either way.

  12. Draft Brian Westbrook.  Adrian Peterson will be a one year wonder.  Every team that he played twice, the team gave up far less yards the second time.  Teams will figure him out (seriously look up his game stats last year).  Tom Brady is great, but you can still get a great quarterback in the next round.

Westbrook is a unique talent that can fit in both a passing and a running game.
