  1. Hi RJC,

If you believe in building a team around a RB then you're on the right track.  The only question left to ask is who is picking in front of you and who are they targeting.  Others here are correct in stating that Brady is a high commodity after his performance last season and could be scooped up at #1 or #2.  Last season, Brady put up a whopping 490 fantasy points (using the standard scoring system) and the closest player to him was Romo with 367, 123 points less.  That's unheard of.

If you're picking 3rd and are going RB come h**l or high water, you're probably looking at the following players being available:

    Adrian Peterson

    Brian Westbrook

    Joseph Addai

    Clinton Portis

    Frank Gore

If you're not sold on Peterson, then I'd set my sights on the next 4 listed.  These 4 players may move around in the rankings as the preseason progresses, but right now I don't think you can go wrong with Westbrook.  The man put up an average of 18.7 fantasy points per game last year (as a comparison, Tomlinson put up 18.9), and that is in leagues that don't award points for receptions.  It looks as though the same Eagles offense will line up this year, so you can expect similar numbers from Westbrook.

If you want to see my full RB rankings you can check out the link in my source list.  On my website you can also create your  own RB rankings using drag and drop on a web-based cheat sheet, then generate a printable cheat sheet with all of your rankings integrated into a single page.  It's free.

    Good luck.

  2. Hi rj, they let us do anything at school

    I'd go with romo

  3. In a few drafts i have done this season Peterson has slipped as far as 4th ( but you have to consider if you want to take the injury risk) if not i would take Westbrook. You never take a QB with the 3rd pick.

  4. it's very hard to not take brady here ,i think he's going to put up huge numbers again this year not sure as good as last year but dam close

  5. Let me make a case for S. Jax.  Last year he finished w/ over 1000 yards even tho his WHOLE OL and his starting QB went down w/ injuries.  They will all be back this year and be a much better team in a weak division.  Jackson caught 90+ balls 2 years ago and I expect him to do the same this year - they have only one good WR in Holt.  Jackson is only 25.  Jackson is in a contract year.  Jackson will be the come-back player of the year this year.  Forget about what happened last year.  Down years make great RBs stronger.  Take him w/ your 3rd pick.

  6. Tom Brady i would definately take....(maybe even first overall if passing TD is 6 points instead of 4 points)

EVERY season.....at least 1 of the top 3 running backs pre draft gets hurt (you dont know usually who it is)

go for someone who you know WILL play ALL 16 games....

and draft 3 running backs of the 4 rounds 2,3,4,5.....

it works every season......look at last year....people took LJ, (im a kc fan, and i passed on him) Alexander, Parker, and Jackson......i took Peyton 4th overall and got laughed at.....at the end of the season i was laughing

even if Brady only gets 35 TDs, you are still in good shape......The BEST RB will only get 15-18 TDS this year....while 15-20 will get at least 7 or 8

  7. I would go brady or romo then next round get TO

It worked for me last year i went 15-1

  8. Personally, I wouldn't take a QB until the 6th or 7th pick overall.  After the top 7-8 RB's, production drops off dramatically; You can get a decent QB who produces consistent points as low as the 3rd or 4th round.  You've got to get an elite RB early......

So.....Westbrook, definitely.  He's a beast running and catching out of the backfield.  McNabb's not as nimble as he used to be and will be dumping it to Westbrook even more often.

  9. 3rd? Id think maybe westbrooke or SJax

  10. According to TSN, Brady is the guy to take at #3 but they also have Peterson going 2nd (after LT) so that projection is suspect. Peterson gained almost 40% of his yards last year in 2 games and had a game late in the season where he netted 3 yards. That kind of inconsistant performance can kill a fantasy team.

QBs who put up record TD totals historically fall off the following year. Peyton Manning has thrown a total of 90 TDs in the 3 seasons since he threw 49. Expecting Brady to duplicate his numbers from last year is unrealistic. He'll be lucky to throw  for 4,000 yards and 35 TDs this year.

I'd take Brian Westbrook at #3 because he's involved in both aspects of the offense. Durability is a concern but if he stays healthy he will provide the consistant numbers fantasy coaches covet.

  11. LT is the first pick I assume,

so then really it's a matter of who's available at 3

if you don't like Jackson or Peterson, and want a running back then Westbrook is probably your man

Depending on how your league is scored, Manning and Brady are worth a look as well

  12. Peterson if available, Darren McFadden.

  13. Brady would be a good pick. Maybe Addai.

  14. LT and AP should be gone with the 1st 2 picks. I dont care who it is, 3rd is way to early for a QB to go. No way Brady has the type of numbers he did last year so if you take him youll be wasting your pick. You gotta go with Westbrook here. The last few years hes getting between 1900-2200 total yards and 12-15 tds. And when McNabb gets hurt again he will be counted on even more. Addai is nice but he fadded late last year and thats when the playoffs in fantasty are so he could cost you some points. And if you think 3rd is too high for AP and want to take Brady there, you might be beyond help anyway.

  15. I'd grab Brady at 3.  This model of grabbing RB's first is going by the wayside with tandem backfields.  Brady led yahoo leagues, and every other including the NFL, with most points.  Why follow an archaic model when the brass ring is there for the taking.

  16. Moss or Owens.

  17. My top 3 are (in order):

    1. LT

    2. AP

    3. Westbrook

Thats who i would take if they were available. It wouldn't be a bad move if you took Stephen Jackson or even Joseph Addai.

  18. Tom Brady would be a decent pick at #3.  I might actually go with Joseph Addai there.  I wouldn't take Brian Westbrook there.  Can't give you the reason.  Trade secrets.  And definately don't take Steven Jackson there.
