I have the Samsung SCH-R500

Question

I have the Samsung SCH-R500 cellphone. Using Windows Media Player on my laptop, I downloaded in MP3 format from a music CD onto an SD microchip portable device (yes, I did format the chip beforehand). But when I transfer the microchip to my cellphone, the music folders show empty and the message "No MP3" appears. I did the same exact thing with my wife's LG cellphone with its respective SD microchip and everything worked fine. What's with the Samsung?
