I have the graph y=-1. i need to find the domain and range?

i think the domain is negative infinity to positive infinity but I'm am not sure about the range... please help

  1. y=-1 is a horizontal line passing through (0,-1).  So, the domain would be all reals (you got it) and the range would just be -1 (or -1 to -1).  If you need to write this in integral notation, it would be [-1].


  2. You are correct about the domain .. and the range is a constant i.e. -1. This is a constant function.  

  3. whenever in doubt go back to assumptions and start from basic.

    Here, the graph is y=-1, a straight line parallel to the x axis

    Domain = allowed values of x

      = -inf to inf

    Range = resulting values of here only one  i.e. -1  

  4. not sure of the appropriate notation but the range exists only at -1

  5. X can  be anything, so the domain is (at least) -infinity to +infinity.

    Y can be only -1, so the range is -1.
