ok so I used to be "fat" and was desperate to lose weight. I was so desperate i tried anything. I used to starve my self for several days, over exercise and the only thing I would eat was 3 cheerios and a few weight loss pills. >.<. I know this sounds horrible...but I was desperate.

I did this for a couple of years (on and off) I think and lost water weight which eventually all came back.

But doing so I'm sure I messed up my metabolism bad. Because no matter what now I cant lose weight.

So is there anything I can do now?

Is there anyway to fix my metabolism, lose weight and...be healthy?

  1. Well I have read that green tea and black coffee both speed up the metabolism and getting up earlier will also help as the earlier you start moving around the faster your metabolism starts working.

If you work out don't do it every day as your body needs to rest so do a maximum of six days. Don't diet as your metabolism gets really slow if you don't take in enough calories. Instead drink plenty of water, cut out the sugary drinks, alcohol, fruit juices, milkshakes etc.

Cut out bread and go low carb, this can easily be achieved by simply tweaking your existing eating habits so that you have a bigger helping of meat and vegetables and about 1/3 of the amount of carbs that you would normally eat.

Oh and don't skip breakfast or your body will think that you're fasting and that keeps the metabolism slow. Just eat a bowl of cereal with 2% milk.

Oh and make Sunday your cheat day, eat whatever you want cake, cookies whatever. This will jump start your metabolism.

    Good luck

  2. had the same problem..well basicly what i did was i went on the treadmill ran for an hour evrey day as soon as i came from school EAT but eat healthy if ur still growing like i am and was it will help u out because u will get taller making u fine for ur weight basicly hit the gym stay active and eat but eat healthy

  3. I hope every neurotic teen obsessed with being "skinny" reads this. I am very sorry to read that you had to learn the hard way.

What has caused your slowed metabolism is the loss of muscle. You will have to rebuild it to boost metabolism. Weight lifting should eb a part of everyone's exercise regime. So many people do not understand that if they built some muscle, not only would they look thinner and more lean, they would be burning enough calories while they are resting that an occasional splurge meal or piece of cake will not affect their weight.

Other jumpstarts to get your insulin sensistivity and metabolism back on track are:

    • Eat six nutrient dense meals per day

    • Drink 80-100 oz of water

    • Lose all saturated fats and processed sugars and flours from your diet.

    • Consume 25% of your diet in healthy fats (Omegas, unsaturated)

  4. yeah, after an episode like that it will be tough to get back on track, but it can happen... I would strongly suggest talking to a nutritionist about setting you up with a diet plan... other than that I would suggest eating 6 small meals a day, try to get plenty of greens and water, and watch protein levels and such... getting into a good exercise routine will also help... good luck, and I hope you the best.
