I have the title to a car how do i get the car back?

My mom's ex-boyfriend signed the title to a 1983 ferrari boxer over to me and i guess something happened to the car like he gave it to somebody to settle a debt or something. I was wondering if there is a way to find the car and get it back? I can show proof of title and thats it. Is it possible to get the car? Or is it a lost cause?

Notify the Police and the DMV.  The car is legally yours but unless he just signed it over to you in the past few days, you are also at fault for not getting it registered in your name.  The person with the car can't register it without the title.

Call non  emergency  police  for information.  If  located  they can  meet to get  it  back.  Contact  state  records to be  sure it is in your  name.   Possible  can  even  go in small claims  court depending  on  cost.  Dont  give  up.    *mamatx

report it as stolen to the police. that way no one can file a lost title and take possession of it. if you no were the car is go and take it. it is yours if you have the title.

You have title? How about registration?

If the registration is in your name report it stolen.

Why did he sign it over to you? To keep it hidden for tax purposes? To keep it hidden from his ex?
