They look like beetles, but I'm not sure. They don't look like squash bugs or leaf footed bugs either. They are eating just the leaves, not the stalks or branches or even the tomato. PLEASE HELP!!!

  2.   I found black bugs eating my tomato leaves yesterday.  The bug is about a half inch long and look like a large ant with wings. They are not Japanese Beetles. They leave droppings as they go and have eaten the bottom leaves of my tomato plants, but are  leaving the stem and fruit alone. I tried hand picking them, then this morning I tried one of Jerry Baker's solutions from his "Giant Book of Garden Solutions".  1/2 cup of alcohol, 2 Tbsp. liquid dish soap, and 1 Gal. of warm water.  All mixed and put in a hand held sprayer.  Saturate the leaves top and underneath.  This has slowed them down some. Hope this helps

  3. if they look like this...http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h... then they are japanese beetles, if u go to home depot or walmart u can by sevin spray, i had the same problem and sevin worked great, or buy bag a bug, bag a bug is a bag that attracts japanese beetles and kills them. they ate my tomatoe, corn, pumpkin and pepper plants, those little bugers!

if u need fast relief get a cup, fill it with soapy water and knock the beetles into the soapy water. if u shake the leaves they fall out, Hope this helps you :)
