The question is:

seed

+iced

=spice

c= d= e= i= p= s=

All the letters represent a number, and I have to find the number.

Also, another question is:

I painted 12 more flowers than birds. Altogether, I painted a total of 28 flowers and birds. How many flowers did I paint.

Can you please answer that one too? I'm terrible at those types of questions.

  1. The first one, I have no idea! I'm working on it.

    Here's how to set up the second problem:

    x = number of birds

    x + 12 = number of flowers (12 more than birds)

    So...

    x + (x + 12) = 28

    And then solve it from there.

  2. 1 works for the first part but so does about any number.

    2nd part is 28-12 = 16.  Then divide by 2 to get the number of birds = 8.  Which tells us you painted 20 flowers.

  3. Here's the bird one:

    f = b + 12

    f + b = 28

    (So substitute)

    (b + 12) + b = 28

    2b = 16

    b = 8

    And since he painted 12 more flowers than birds, 8 + 12 = 20

    Check: 8 + 20 = 28

    So, 8 birds and 20 flowers

  4. seed = 1663

    iced = 9263

    spice = 10926
